Project Funding

Project Timeline:

2008 – Linear B tablets discovered at Ayios Vasileios.

2009 – Trial trenches are opened at Ayios Vasileios.

2010 - Excavation work continues. The research is partly funded by the Ministry of Culture, and INSTAP, The Institute for the Aegean Prehistory

2011 – Excavation continues, primarily funded by INSTAP, with smaller contributions from the University of Gronigen (Groningen Institut voor Archeologie), and the Psycha Foundation, Greece.

Initial work is very promising, and the status of the research is changed to a “systematic excavation.”

Research is conducted under the auspices of the "En Athinais Archaiologiki Etaireia" a Greek foundation for the archaeological research, however funding is unavailable due to financial conditions in Greece.

2012 – Work at the site continues with funding contributed by INSTAP, the Psycha Foundation, the Gronigen Institut voor Archeologie, and Association PRAC, based in France.

In 2012, LANTIF provided funds for completion of Geophysical Profile work on the site, and Professor Oliver Dickinson, University of Darham, also made a contribution to continued work at the site.
Ongoing Funding:
LANTIF has an initial fundraising goal of $25,000, primarily earmarked for the purchase of the land at Ayios Vasilios. An initial donation of $6,600 was used towards the completion of a Geophysical profile study of 11.6 acres, roughly the size of 10 football fields.
Our goal is to raise a further $18,400 by June 2013.
